string theory
DEDECE SHOWROOM - MELBOURNE
The project explored the potentials of translucent coloured monofilament line as a medium in the geometric manifestation of illusionistic spatial experiences. The string constructions invoked an otherworldly ephemerality within the showroom, as the play of light upon the filament continually altered their apparent physicality.
The string constructions sought to reflect the nature of the furniture pieces displayed within the showroom and in doing so create an environment for the furniture to inhabit . In this way, the filament compositions acted as complimentary partners to the furniture, framing and wrapping the pieces within delicate webs of gossamer lines. While acting as independent elements, the string construction’s ephemeral forms took on their own sculptural identity within the space.
