The Archae series drew on the embodiment of archetypal architectural forms that define the cornerstones of human civilization. The Castle, Palace, Arena, Temple, Spire and Memorial pavilions allude to the fragments of a cultural infrastructure that has persisted from ancient to modern times.
The pavilions employ an identical constructional unit, that of the square timber section, that are organised in significant arrangements to create structural integrity. The assemblages achieve spatial unity using this simplest of building materials, while embodying a symbolic resonance in their reference to primary building typologies.
Each of the Archae celebrates a unique geometric footprint and invites the visitor to embark on different spatial journeys in discovering their intricate delights. The structures play upon the complex interaction of linear geometries and layered effects that immerses the visitors in the warp and weft of structure and shadow which solidify and dissolve the apparent physicality of the pavilions.
